Ocala photos of Jess & Yearlings

Hear the Footsteps in Saturday’s Kingston Stakes

It’s Big Apple Showcase Day at Belmont on Saturday featuring six Stakes races for NY breds. After finishing third in a six furlong grass allowance on May 16, Footsie will run a flat mile on the grass against many of his “friends,” including Lubash, Kharafa, Compliance Officer and NotaCatbutaLlama. Linda says he’s still a little fat. He’ll be more fit after the race, but I’m sure he’ll do his best. We’ll be there supporting him.

We had a wonderful time last weekend with our four yearlings at Pat & Tori Hoppel’s farm in Anthony, Florida, just outside of Ocala. We got to visit Jess Not Jesse at Brian & Holley Rice’s farm and watch his swimming therapy, which is doing a great job of keeping him in shape after his recent surgery. We also had a lovely dinner with Pat, Tori and their son Jesse at the Ivy House in Ocala. Here are the photos…

Haynesfield filly on the left. Flatter filly on the right.

Einstein filly on the left, Girolamo filly second from left.

Girolamo filly.

Einstein filly… the Alpha of the group.

Haynefield filly kissing Rhoda’s toes with Pat & Jesse in background.

Flatter filly with three white socks.

Leading Jess into the water for his therapeutic swim.

He’s swimming in place in the deep water. Rhoda took a video of this but I haven’t figured out how to get it into this format yet.

Root for Footsie! He’s a good boy.
