No horses, so how come we’re so-o-o busy!?
Yes, we’re frustrated. Asked the trainer to find us a good claimer to have some action but nothing yet. Even talking to another trainer about finding a horse to claim. If we don’t do it soon, there will be no chance to have a horse race up here.
At least we got to see Ahvee’s Destiny and her little filly at Stonegate Stables in Ft. Edward.

Here they are sharing some hay. Now, here is a full-size shot of each one.

We do have some exciting news about a name selection for Ahvee’s yearling colt. However, since the name needs to be approved by the Jockey Club, we’ll wait until all the formalities have been completed. Meanwhile, the colt is prancing around Pat Hoppel’s farm in the Ocala, FL area. He apparently is looking good, since Linda says the colt is growing on her and Pat. They hope to “civilize him” this Fall.
The care of our guests is very high on our list of responsibilities. With people coming at different times, we often need Sally to juggle reservations (thanks!) and we need to juggle plans and accommodations. Plus, there’s always a hassle with getting boxes at the racecourse, especially this year, since the Powers that Be have made it harder and harder. So, between that, going to the farm, helping at the Synagogue, dealing with house issues, shopping, entertaining, meeting new people, etc., it can get pretty harried. Plus, we’ve had our beautiful grandchildren here with their moms and that is both fun and intense. Everyone likes to see them. So, as proud parents and grandparents, we try to show them off as much as possible. Who knew vacation could be so consuming and so tiring!
Next week, Jim, my horse partner arrives and Harvey, one of my business partners comes to Lake George. In addition, we have an extensive schedule, including a brunch for 70. So, it’s not slowing down yet. I guess without horses to race you’ve got to do something!
