That’s right. It may have been the worst race one of our horses has ever run. We’ve known the “thrill of victory.” This was the “agony of defeat!” Allie n’ Kat looked good. Then when the bell rang, he was rushed up near the lead but after only 3/8 of a mile, he could not sustain it. When all of the other horses had passed the finish line, so much time elapsed, that we thought he was lining up for the next race. Then, there he was… 40 lengths behind the winner!

Allen sent me a book about Zippy Chippy, a horse with great breeding that lost 100 races in a row. He became a cult favorite. We don’t contemplate ever reaching that milestone for any of our horses. Had we started out with Zippy Chippy, we would no longer be in the racing business!
