Genetic testing… really?
For those who want to know why I went to the Belmont Stakes even though I left before the big race…
What does this have to do with genetic testing? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
We had several of our young horses genetically tested. Ahvee’s Destiny’s colt was the highest class rating and was adjudged likely able to race at longer distances (a router). The Flatter filly had high class ratings as a sprinter. While some of the group were lowly rated.
Our plan is to proceed to train them all and see how they do in training. Then, if they do well, we’ll race them and, if not, we’ll try and sell them.
Our racing fortunes have been poor. Hear the Footsteps has not performed this year like he did last. Hidden Music was hustled to the front at Belmont last Friday. When I heard the quarter time, I knew it was much too fast and she’d burn herself out. She finished last.
Brother Bob after winning twice at Finger Lakes, jumped up at the start of his race today and finished last. Our harness horses have not finished in the money this year. Cameron Lucky, who was claimed from us last year has been doing well for others and was claimed again. Oy!
What was Jim McKay’s line on Wide World of Sports… the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat? Jess Not Jesse is being sent up north to get ready for Saratoga. Let’s hope he’s in good form!
Saratoga racing season starts on July 18. We’re excited about going on July 17th. Looking forward to seeing you there!
