Back in the saddle!

cricketheader

On 8/29, American Pharoah came in 2nd and I got Pneumonia…

Yesterday, American Pharoah finished first and easily (6 1/2 lengths) won the Breeder’s Cup Classic and today, I’m back from illness and writing about Pharoah and our brood of horses, all of them thoroughbreds…. some of them racehorses!

Last Friday and Saturday, at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, KY, a series of 13 important races known as the Breeder’s Cup World Championship races, were run in front of 50,000 fans and millions on television.

Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah sealed his legacy by beating all comers easily. Now, he goes to the Breeding Shed to sire lots of expensive babies.

La Verdad, a filly owned by Lady Sheila Stables and trained by Linda Rice ran a very exciting race, leading in the stretch and just getting beaten by Wavell Avenue. Still it was a very nice race!

We sat on the sideline, since the only horse that has run for us this year, our recent claim of Pointe Class, bled in her last race and has been sent to Florida. There it was discovered she has chips in both her ankles,so she will have surgery to get them removed and then recuperate at Abracadabra Farm. Hopefully, she’ll be ready to compete by Spring 2016.

Two fillies, Hayfield and FlatteryWillGetYou, are at Belmont and will run near year-end or early in January, if all goes well. They will turn 3-yrs. old on January 1 (all race horses advance a year on January 1st).

Allie N’ Kat, a 2-yr old colt, and Another Genius, a filly should come to Belmont from Florida this week. They won’t be racing before next year.

Ransom Note, a 2-yr. old colt and Candy for Kisses, a filly will continue trying to become race horses in Florida. Also in Florida are Ahvee’s Destiny’s yearling colt, Ramon Dominguez and her weanling filly of 2015. Pat says they both look good. So, we can dream! We’ll visit them at the end of December. I hope to get some photos later this week.

Our Broadway show, On Your Feet!, the musical of the Gloria and Emilio Estefan story, opens Thursday night. We saw it last night. It’s pretty exciting. Hope the critics agree. Certainly, the audiences do!

Hopefully, we’ll be in touch more often now. I’ll try to stay healthy!
