Dead Last

Where were the losses when we really needed them?

Ransom Note ran last Friday at Finger Lakes but finished dead last. Daring Destiny ran in his first race yesterday. He is our first home bred from our first horse, Ahvee’s Destiny. He ran dead last.

Perhaps, if we had these results very early on, we would have not continued in the horse racing business. No house in Saratoga. A much larger bank account!

It wasn’t easy as it was in 2006. Ahvee’s Destiny ran 4th in her first race at Saratoga. Then, she needed throat surgery. When she next ran at Aqueduct, she got scared by two horses closing in on her and she was 5th, beaten by 15 lengths. Nonetheless, Linda put blinkers on her in her next race. The result? She broke her maiden by 4 in the last race of the year at Aqueduct in 2006.

By the time we got to Saratoga in 2007, she won her second race; and then, her third. We were hooked. And, we would do it all again. Hope we don’t get tested too severely to see if that statement holds!

In the meantime, tomorrow it’s the Belmont Stakes and Another Genius runs in the first race at Belmont on Sunday, we think. So, there will be more to come!
