I’m so scared!

I was all ready to tell you what a nice weekend we had with Ahvee’s Destiny and Candy for Kisses in Saratoga…

I was going to show you photos… until I got a text asking me to call the farm and found out that Ahvee’s Destiny is in trouble. She’s our first horse, the Queen of the Stable. She always has had trouble with her hooves. Her left front hoof was put into a special shoe constructed for her by the foot specialist at Rood & Riddle Clinic of Saratoga. When she started limping around, they thought it was an abcess that would come out quickly and heal. No such luck.

They tried floating her foot within the special shoe… but that was more painful for her, so last night they adjusted it and she is ok today. She needs to be watched carefully. So, we’re moving her to Waldorf Farm in North Chatham, NY where she’ll be under round-the-clock care of Dr. Jerry Bilinski.

The weight of carrying the foal is the complicating factor. Success will be keeping her healthy and ameliorating her pain, so she has a healthy foal. Then, we’d hope she could continue her career as a broodmare… but that may not be possible. The worst outcomes include her being in pain and aborting the pregnancy and, even worse, getting laminitis which could result in her foundering and dying. OMG!

This is why we’re so scared. They’re having an ice storm up north right now, We hope it changes from ice to rain or snow. so she can get to Waldorf tomorrow. Otherwise, Thursday.
We had lots of fun playing with her and Candy. They were both sweet and enjoyed the treats.

Sharon Dominguez send us a photo of her and Ramon Dominguez… the horse. We’ll include that in an upcoming message.

Meanwhile, FlatteryWillGetYou who was going to race on Friday has come down with a fever, So, she won’t be running until February, at the earliest.
