I wish it was for the Derby but it’s to meet Ahvee’s Destiny’s next suitor, Lonhro, a former Australian Horse of the Year! Yes, the colt has gone with her. Hope he doesn’t have to watch! They’ll be there for at least 60 days to make sure she gets impregnated and is doing well before they come home to New York.

Our friends, Larry and Jennifer, have a had wonderful start for their racing band this year. I know they’ve won about four races and gotten on the board in a stakes. That’s always exciting. Plus, I heard a rumor that their favorite stakes winning mare, J’Ray, will be bred to Frankel, perhaps the best race horse ever. That’ll be a match made in heaven!

We haven’t raced much this year. Executive Office is our only winner. He won a Maiden Claiming race in January. Brother Bob ran poorly in a cheap claimer last Friday and Arch Traveler hasn’t run much, even when he’s been in a race. Hear the Footsteps and Hidden Music are waiting for turf season and Jess Not Jesse is recovering from an abcess which has delayed any possible surgery.

The Standardbreds are in a similar position. Naugatuck ran 8th in his first race this year and will run again Sunday afternoon. Timberwolf is still recovering from a fracture and Red Star Tomahawk was running a high fever today, so scratched out of a race tomorrow night.

Today is Linda Rice’s 50th birthday. Her cell phone is full of good wishes, since NYRA and the Saratogian newspaper informed the public about her milestone event and gave out her phone number. That’s one hell of a birthday present!

We’re just back from an AIPAC conference. With 14,000 in attendance, it can be frustrating, but it’s a place where you can hear and see all the good things that Israel is doing for other countries, emergency organizations and individuals around the world. For me, whose mother was born in Tel Aviv – Yaffo and who called herself an “original Palestinian,” it was especially important to hear all those nice comments and see some of the amazing inventions that Israel has produced to help people during my year of mourning her passing. It helped make another connection to her. I miss my mommy!

Hope your life is going well.
