Executive Office

cricketheader

Executive Office is scheduled to run in Saturday’s first race at Aqueduct. Last time, he appeared in a $35,000 claimer and won. Yet, Linda has now put him in a $16,000 claimer. Usually, this kind of move can result in losing the horse to a claim. Yet, if you look at all the entrants’ past performances, you will see that this level appears to be quite competitive. So, maybe it’s the right move.

It’s a six furlong race with Taylor Rice, Linda’s niece, in the irons. She’ll come out of post position four. Our claims have not been successful to date, though Linda has claimed some horses that have gone from claimers to Stakes horses, ours seem to go from high value claimers to steaks (well, not quite… but you get the idea!).

Hear the Footsteps has arrived at Belmont from Florida and will begin his training for the upcoming turf season. Yay, Footsie! I wonder when Hidden Music will go back into training?

Ahvee’s Destiny’s next beau, Lonhro, was just voted into the Australian Thoroughbred Hall of Fame. Keeps us dreaming about another great foal next year. Little Ahvee is with her in Kentucky and has gained about 1 lb/day since his birth on February 11th.

The New York Thoroughbred Breeders Awards take place the night of April 1, 2014. Since Linda Rice was the top trainer of New York breds last year, I think it’s likely she will win the award as the top trainer for 2013 that night. Go, Linda!
