Another Genius Runs on the Turf

Friday, Race 5, post time 3:07 pm from the #1 post with Jose Lezcano aboard. We’ll be in the paddock by 2:45. Linda says it’s a tough race, so all we can say is, “Go Genius!”

We were up in Saratoga for the Jewish New Year and got to visit with the City Zip foal, who was sick before the thoroughbred racing season ended at Saratoga ended. It turned out to be a relapse of something she got in Kentucky which might have been brought on by the strain of being weaned from her mother.

The first time we saw her she looked sickly. By the next visit, she looked better, but not back to normal. Take a look:

You can see her ribs and her distended stomach… and this is better than it was. Hopefully, she’ll be well enough to ship to Florida after the storm passes.

Ahvee’s Destiny and Candy for Kisses are well, though Candy still can’t be bothered with us.

Our Caravan was a little lame after his recent breeze and cut himself during the breeze. So, that’ll put off a race for awhile.

Hay Field arrived at Belmont and Ransom Note continues training for his first race.

I’m sure I screwed up something I did that may have affected you this year. So, in the spirit of the Ten Days of Penitence, I ask for your forgiveness for anything I might have done to offend you and forgive anything you might have done to offend me, which I’m sure was as unintentional as my own transgression. Of course, if you remember anything specific, please let me know, so I can try and improve on it. Thanks for your consideration!
