Saratoga racing season has 3 weeks left

We have two older thoroughbreds waiting to race, Hear the Footsteps was scheduled but had to be scratched because he received medication too close to race day (though no closer than he had in the past). Now, he’s scheduled to run in a 5 1/2 furlong sprint on the grass on Wednesday. Weather has been great, but rain is forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday. Hopefully, the race will get to run on the turf. He’s running for a claiming price of $62,500 in a tough race with Jose Ortiz aboard.

Jesse Not Jesse will be entered in a similar race at a $25,000 claiming price scheduled for Saturday, the 16th. So, maybe we will get some racing in this week.

Today we’re going to see Patsy Symons’ 2-yr. old, Skinner Box, race for the first time in race two. So far the Meet has not been kind to our friends’ horses but it has been kind to Linda. Kid Cruz finished third in the Whitney and Palace won a Grade 1 Stakes.

Sales week just finished with last night’s final auction of NY bred yearlings. We bought two colts and a filly. After I get photos together, I will send them to you.

Yesterday saw the daughters and grandsons leave after a week of family fun..Two kids are lots of work but it is very rewarding work. Looking forward to seeing them back in Stamford after Labor Day.

More friends soon to come and lots more stories to tell. Hope to get back to you soon.
