Rhoda was the big winner!

It was a beautiful day at Belmont Park even though the favorite and my selection in the Belmont Stakes, Exaggerator, ran 11th. We had fun with Michael and Lois, Ramon and Sharon came to visit. We went to Richard and Donna’s box. They had fish for us this year in the Turf & Field Club. We got to see FlatteryWillGetYou prior to the races. She eagerly gobbled up many Mrs. Pasture’s Cookies.

Of course, my selections actually came close some times but no big cigar. I told Michael to use my selections as a “bet against.”

Nonetheless, I placed some bets for Rhoda. She made $2.50 and her first winning ticket, a hefty show bet on an odds-on favorite who just managed to come in third. Later, I placed a series of 10 cent Superfecta bets for her. There were three bets of $16.80 each, a total of $54. These were the selections of Xpressbet’s Johnny D.

We left after the Belmont and I didn’t even look up the results of those tickets because I thought that Johnny D had Exaggerator in one of the top positions on each card, so he lost just like me. It was only today that Rhoda found out that I was WRONG again!

This same thing happened a couple of years ago too. We backed Johnny D’s Superfecta on the Kentucky Derby. It took a week for me to find out that he hit it (and so did we) for a few thousand dollars.
