New healthy foals

Ransom Note Wins!

After you lose a few foals, you get very discouraged. You don’t grin and bear it. You just bear it and move forward. If you’re lucky enough to have other mares in foal, the odds are you’ll get to see some new healthy foals. If you have horses racing, occasionally, you get to the Winner’s Circle. These events helped assuage the pain and horror we felt when two foals were lost on two successive days.

Here’s Aunt Glo 2018, born in Lexington, KY, just days after we lost the two foals:

This is Revolve 2018 last week in Kentucky. Had trouble standing up. She weighed 137 lbs.

As you can see from the chart for Ransom Note‘s 2nd victory on Saturday, he went to the lead right after the start and refused to give it up when he was challenged. That’s what they mean when they say a horse “ran gamely” or was “game.” Yay, Ransom Note!

Here we are in the Winner’s Circle with Ransom Note, Linda Rice, our trainer, Trevor McCarthy, the jockey, and Trevor’s family, who were visiting!

These events don’t take away ALL the pain but IT DOES FEEL BETTER! We’ll keep moving forward.
